Doggone Lucky

While we specialize in Resorts and Hotels there are many varied disciplines within that realm, they may include technical interior lighting, action ski photography or the challenge of Food photography. What I think about when doing a shot like this one is what the top pros in any given specialty like animal photography must go through. On an Ad shoot they have special pet wranglers, groomers and vets on set for when the Great Dane steps on the Poodle. You know that Eukanuba ad shoot has a budget of $20,000 or better. So when the Willows lodge needed something to say "Pet Friendly" and had to do it with a budget under $20,000, we had to wear a few different hats. Who is we? Janene Varden marketing director of the Willows and for this shot, stylist and prop manager. Rhanda Rosselot Willows marketing manager as the pet wrangler and snack master (notice the perky happy dogs?). My assistant Jackson was the groomer. The models, Ruthie Willows the beatiful Bassett hound is the official Pet Ambassador of the Willows, she was kind enough to share her hotel with Bennett the perky ( jumpy, bouncy, run all over) Papillion. What I couldn't help thinking during this shot was the shooters who do this all day long, dog fights, petulant Poodles, sullen St Bernards, puppy pee, and all they go through to get the perfect shot.
